Member faq

Who can become a member?

Anyone can join, including tenants, homeowners, or anyone interested in supporting tenant power.

What is expected of me as a member?

There are no obligations beyond paying monthly dues. However, we will share opportunities for you to get more involved, including working on campaigns or attending workshops and public events.

Where do my dues go?

Membership dues are not collected to fund a single project or program. The primary purpose of dues is to build a tenant bloc durable enough to wield collective power. That said, membership does help us cover essential expenses for our work, such as printed materials, venue costs for events, interpretation services, and support for workshops and campaigns.

How do i meet other members?

We have meetups for members to connect with one another every two months. In addition, members interact through political education programming, a monthly reading group, campaigns, and special events.

What do I receive as a member?

  • Newsletter

  • Political education programs

  • Invitations to public events

  • Opportunities to work on our campaigns.

  • Members-only reading group

How long does my membership last?

When you join as a member, you are signing up for monthly recurring dues. To cancel your membership, simply email us to let us know you would like to cancel.

What if I am already a member at a different organization?

That is great. Many of us hold memberships in multiple organizations, and we encourage participation in other groups, especially tenant unions and aligned community-based organizations. Building power requires a broad and interconnected movement, and we won't exclude you if you have another affiliation.

How can I access member-only resources?

You will receive email updates about all member-only resources including events, reading groups, political education opportunities, and other programming available to members.

Is membership required to participate in events or campaigns?

Going forward, certain offerings will require membership, including our reading group, some events, participation in working groups, and research projects
